Original abstract

Abstract Analysing the awareness of using AI among the students and professors. It has gained significant attention due to its potential to enhance teaching methods, learning experiences, and improving academic efficiency. Despite the widespread use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Gamma, the formal integration of AI in education is still extremely limited. This study aims to examine the reasons as to why AI is still not adopted by the institutes into the curricula, find the key barriers and suggest strategies to effectively implement AI in education. The paper mainly focuses on institutes in Mumbai and identifies certain key barriers for the integration of Artificial Intelligence into education. The paper uses a quantitative approach to gather data from students and professors. The results indicate a high rate of adoption and frequent usage by the students. However, the formal integration of AI still remains limited due to challenges such as lack of awareness, lack of training, ethical concerns and integrity issues. This study aims to highlight the massive gap between adoption of AI and the formal integration within academic institutes. The paper concludes that while AI has massive potential to boost the quality of education that students receive. The formal introduction of AI requires proper governance, institutional readiness, and awareness of ethical responsibilities. The study recommends the development of policy framework, introduction of AI training and promotion of ethical usage of AI.
