Original abstract
This dataset contains anonymized survey responses from 20 undergraduate engineering students enrolled in a Research Workshop course (January-June 2026 semester) at the Instituto Tecnológico de San Juan del Río (TecNM/ITSJR), México. The survey instrument was an extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) comprising seven constructs. Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), AI Anxiety (ANX), Trust in AI Results (TRU), Ethical Awareness (ETH), Continuous Use Intention (IU), and Perceived Impact on Learning (IPA), measured on a 5-point Likert scale, along with two open-ended questions and final course grades as an indicator of academic performance. The study examined students' acceptance of generative AI tools (ChatGPT and Claude) for research competency development. Individual identifiers were removed prior to publication and replaced with randomly assigned participant IDs. A companion data dictionary (IA_EDU_data_dictionary.docx) is included, describing all variables and item wording in detail.
